Tip of the Week: Bleach water treatment

Bleach is a great alternative to commercial water treatment systems, and is only a fraction of the cost.  To purify, add about 5 drops of bleach per liter of water and then let it stand for an hour.  The bleach is very effective at killing giardia and cryptosporidium but does make the water taste a bit like a swimming pool.   Bleach is by far the cheapest form of water treatment, and it’s also very lightweight due to the small amount of bleach needed per liter.
